Now, before people comment on the lack of certain food items, keep in mind I wanted to make these foods more snack-like items as I feel there is a lack of posts on muscle building snacks. Ideally, the best foods are those that are both nutrient and caloire-dense as we need to intake enough calories, preferably in a slight surplus of calories, to support protein synthesis. Some of the best foods include: bananas (super convenient and high in calories and carbs. Make for a good post workout snack), cashews (high in calories, but also healthy fats and protein. I've been having about 1/4 cup as a snack for the last few weeks, making it easy to get additional calories in), fruit (probably the best pre and post-workout food as it is high in healthy sugars to help fuel your workout, but also replenish your glycogen stores post-workout), peanut butter, protein shakes, and coffee (though there is no caloric benefit, there are certainly performance benefits when taken pre-workout).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

☑️A key exercise that I believe should be in everybody’s leg days. This is movement pattern is one of the few that allows us to mechanically load the quadriceps at their peak shortened position, which is often neglected in most other leg exercises.

Think of it his way, in a squat or leg press, peak tension is lost by the time we fully extend at the knee. This means that emphasis is off of the quadriceps when the leg is straightened during these movements, whereas the leg extension meets peak tension as the knee extends.

▶️The Leg Extension is an exercise that we should all aim to overload upon, so here are some tips to implement into your next leg day!
_
💪Grip the handles to the side of you and force yourself back into the seat. This will mean you won’t compensate at the hips and try to cheat the weight up.
_
🦶Point your toes upward and ensure that your feet are parallel. This decrease the chance of one leg compensating over the other.
_
🦵When loading the movement, pick a weight heavy enough that you’re not kicking your knees up (risking hyperextension) and light enough that you can control each concentric and eccentric portion.

I’ve finally gained a quarter inch in my arms.  I’ve been in a weird spot lately with stress, motivation etc. finding mental peace is difficult.
