When I look at little me, I see a free spirit. I was resourceful, I loved nature and animals, and I had big dreams.
Like many people, my spirit was squashed over the years by a series of traumas and bad experiences.
It takes a lot to rediscover yourself as an adult and work out what makes your heart sing. Especially when we have all been desensitised by the demands of life.
Sometimes it feels unreasonable to even allow ourselves time to do the simple things that make our souls happy.
I am used to living under pressure, yet in the back of my mind I am always thinking: there has got to be more to this life. This day in, day out, groundhog day type of life is tiring.
What happened to nurturing our soul? Why aren't we consciously asking ourselves, "What would make my soul happy today?" and then actively doing it? It feels like it's not allowed because hey, how dare you break away from the rat race?
Walks in nature, warm baths, strolls with your loved ones, reading a book by the sea, low key travels, early nights, overnight stays, delicious food even if it's deemed a bit 'naughty'...whatever it is that your soul craves, it should be given.
Only then does the sometimes mundane day to day life become richer, and only then does your own existence begin to feel worthwhile and nurtured.
Life is short, and while it takes conscious effort to get out there and do what your soul craves, it is so important that we all do so. ✌
Next on my soul-nurturing agenda: to buy a van and travel Australia whenever I can. Nature is the great healer and only in the peace of nature can I really piece myself back together ❤ .
