🧠 another QUEEN of psychology 👑  #mamiephippsclark was the FIRST African-American woman to earn a doctorate degree in psychology from Columbia University. She previously earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Howard University. Her experience in college and specifically graduate level courses helped Clark realize the shortage of psychological services available to the African American community and other minorities.  Her GROUNDBREAKING research on the impact of race on child development helped end segregation and was influential in desegregation efforts including the Brown vs. Board of Education in 19554. Her dedication and passion for adequate mental health services for all prompted Dr. Clark to open her own agency to provide comprehensive psychological services to the poor, blacks, and other minority children and families.  In February 1946, Dr. Clark and her husband opened the doors of “The Northside Center for Child Development” for those in the Harlem area.  She worked in the center counseling and providing other psychological services from 1946 until 1979, when she retired.  Although retired, Clark served on different advisory boards and was still very active within her community. Reiki is meant to raise the vibration in anything it connects with. .
In humans it gives a deep sense of relaxation, relief and rest. .
It is a safe, gentle and deeply beneficial experience to the whole persons sense of well being. .
I have extensive experience, both on the table and off, I apply Reiki  to all areas of my life.

I’ve done hundreds of sessions.

I conduct my sessions under a standard practice that are intuitively guided according to that persons energy. .
I am a sacred space creator, a facilitator and a messenger. .
In my experience there is no blocked chakras, only tangled energy.

We absorb energetic debris and the body tries to balance itself out.

With the help of Reiki, that energy can be untangled and as a result the body is able to function more efficiently, generating immediate relief, ease and clarity.

Any time we work with our subconscious, we’re doing Inner Child work. 🤱🏻⁣

This is because the things that trigger us in our waking lives can almost always be tied to something that happened to us, or something we experienced, when we were kids. ⁣

It’s continuously asking the question: what other time did I feel this way? ⁣
⁣
Until you get to that time when you were 3 where your needs weren’t met or you misinterpreted a situation...because...you were 3...and had no ability to actually interpret a situation and process it.⁣
⁣
Inner Child work is often more about looking at a memory to:⁣
⁣
〰️ Reprocess the memory because we misinterpreted it as a child and assigned it incorrect meaning⁣
〰️ Experience the feelings associated with it ✨completely✨ so that they are no longer trapped in in your body⁣
〰️ Have a conversation with the adults associated with the memory to express how you felt and what you needed⁣
〰️ Reassure your Inner Child that you’ll be taking it from here - you see their needs, and you’re going to meet them, because you’re the adult in BOTH of your lives.⁣
⁣
You can’t change your memories or the outcomes of them in your mind. ⁣
⁣
You can look at them, release the emotions attached to them, and understand how to care for yourself now and in future situations.⁣
⁣
In session with my clients, we make sure they’re able to say ✨all of the things✨ that they are thinking or feeling out loud, directing them to where they need to be said. ⁣
⁣
We name the emotions and release them energetically - and verbally - together.⁣
⁣
I make sure they’re wrapped in protective energy, which I oddly almost always see as the jacket I am wearing in this picture of me when I was a small child.⁣

The best part of this work (because it isn’t easy, necessarily)? ⁣

Pineapple Fried Quinoa 🧨🎉♥️ So. Freaking. Good.

Boil your quinoa while you chop your veggies: Use whatever you have

1 yellow pepper (red or orange works too)
1/4 red onion, chopped very small 
2 radishes sliced (I only had 2, you can use more)
Green onion chopped

Must haves:
1 inch squared ginger sliced (or more)
1 clove garlic minced
1 can pineapple with juice
3 tablespoon soy sauce

Fry it all up together, add lime juice if you wish, & serve with chopped mint leaves and hot sauce 👍
Other add ons are nuts, especially cashews Mmmm, chili flakes, maple syrup if you want it sweeter

After a certain point, stagnation is a choice.⁣⁣
⁣
Yes, the hurdles will come. Yes, the blocks will emerge. There will be times you don’t feel like you know how to move, where to turn, or what to create. The system doesn’t feel right because it’s made to keep you stuck and small. It is made to stifle human connection and true creative expression as you figure out how to survive. You are tapped into Spirit, you are living from the Heart, and that comes with hyperawareness of the ways that New (Ancient/Intended) Earth will unfold ~ the way it will materialize, will build from Love, righteousness, and massive change. Thriving through CommUNITY. A catalytic shift from this burnt out model that doesn’t regenerate.⁣⁣

But, you have to utilize the system, one foot in and one foot out, until it’s no longer the only choice. You have to break through your own rigidness to function in something so tedious and contorted. Revolting and resistance can only be made into malleable life force with divine motion, pure intention. You must mold your innate musing and creation into action. To fulfill the role you are called to. And that role might shift, but it will always be living from your heart.⁣⁣

Otherwise, all you are doing is stifling yourself, your gift, and your mission. All the while suffering more than you have to, when the world is already jaded and riddled with suffering.⁣

Don’t let the doubts win.⁣⁣
Don’t let the immensity of it all keep you from doing your part.⁣⁣

We all need you.⁣
You need to share. You need to Love. You need to express. You need to unfold into your destiny. You need to support yourself as you blossom into your blueprint. Trust.⁣

Whether compassion is directed towards ourselves or others, it forms part of the same circle. Just as we cultivate our ability to find a place of kind, non-judgemental understanding and support for ourselves, we in turn cultivate our ability to see others through that same lens.

When we are struggling, we don’t do better by shaming ourselves, berating ourselves, beating up on ourselves, focussing on our perceived flaws and failures … and when others are struggling we don’t alleviate their pain by shaming them, berating them, judging them or criticising them.

Instead we need, others need, our kindness. An awareness of suffering, an understanding of our imperfect humanness, and a recognition of our worthiness for compassion ... of everyone’s worthiness for compassion.

Self-compassion and compassion are a foundational part of healing – our own healing, and the collective healing.

Let’s stay in that circle. It’s truly where we all belong.

I LOVE falafel.  It’s one of my favorite things. But I never made my own until yesterday.  They are baked not fried so they were a bit different from what we usually get at restaurants. I would cut back the salt next time. Overall good, worth it but not the best falafel I’ve ever had (maybe if I fried it instead?). Here’s the recipe

In Journey Mapping we look at "the world before," not so that we can go backward... not so we can idealize what was or hold out hope for what can no longer be... but so we have a point of reference. So we have some sense of where we stand on the map of our own making, inside the trajectory of our unique journey.⁣
⁣
When we feel the most spun out and confused, lost inside our own life, it’s usually because we’re bumping up against walls where there used to be doors. Hitting against a part of us that’s been completely rewired by grief, trauma, or challenging chapters — or was lost altogether in the moments that shattered and destroyed us.⁣
⁣
Looking at who we were before everything changed gives us insight and information. What were we doing, and why? How did we even do that? Who was there, and what surrounded us that made it possible?⁣
⁣
But most importantly:⁣
⁣
Is this something we even want anymore and are capable of creating again? As the person we are in the aftermath and the person we’re now working to become. Or do we need to use this as a starting point to define something new?⁣
⁣
Remembering even the simplest aspects of the day-to-day used to be frustrating and painful for me after loss, because I couldn’t go back. I was so broken in those early days, and all I wanted was to go back. But now there’s a soft, gentle, loveliness to it.⁣
⁣
“Hey, sweet girl,” I’ll think, “I remember you.”⁣
⁣
While there may be fondness and love, there’s no desire to go back. None. Because I can never be who I was before loss and trauma tipped me over and turned me inside out, and I’m okay with that. I’m happy. I love my work and my life. I’m healing and finding wholeness in ways I never knew I could. I'm continuing to rebuild in new and different directions.⁣

After remembering, I’ll thank that sweet girl for everything she was and everything she did for me before turning and facing in an entirely new direction.⁣
⁣
Because that’s growth.⁣
⁣
Facing forward.⁣
Feeding the parts that are coming alive.⁣
Stepping into what comes next.⁣
⁣
