BUYER BOOTCAMP WEEK 4: Finding your happy place
You’re officially house hunting for your happy place! You open up new listing emails with anticipation, excited to see if this could be the one! But how do you really know? You might be wondering what questions you should be asking yourself before taking the next step of writing an offer. Here are a few things to consider:
How long are you planning on living in the home? You’ll want to consider whether or not this home meets your needs not just now, but potentially 5-10 years down the road if that’s what you’re looking for.
Are you looking beyond the decor? Remember, things like paint colors, flooring and even countertops can always be changed over time. Does the location, layout and size fit your needs? Always think about the things you can’t change and decide if you’re happy with those features.
Does the cost of this home reflect how much you want to spend monthly? It’s important to think beyond the big number of the total mortgage amount and break down how the monthly payment along with taxes will affect your budget. Many times, buyers don’t want to max out the amount they were pre-approved for because they want to have enough money for that annual family vacation, the Stitch Fix subscription they don’t want to give up and money to actually decorate and furnish their new home the way they want.
After asking yourself these 3 questions, you’ll be able to make a decision with confidence! This is how I help my buyers make smart real estate decisions!
