I rarely post about hate, it’s painful to imagine and endure. Maybe that’s why good people refrain from speaking out. Before accusing another human being; choose kindness. This is my opinion, it’s not worth two wooden nickels, don’t spend too much of your valuable currency on it.
George Floyd is a human being. Murdering a helpless human is cowardly and soulless. Let us unite, create change peacefully, give each other the benefit of the doubt, and heal as human beings. There was a time when I was unable to comprehend Martin Luther King Jr's words and actions that transcend time, forgiveness, hope and all colors of humanity. “The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy, instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it. Through violence you may murder the liar, but you cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth. Through violence you may murder the hater, but you do not murder hate. In fact, violence merely increases hate.
Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” - Martin Luther King, Jr.
My only brother, Troy was beaten, stabbed, stomped, carved up, manually strangled gasping for his last breath in a pool of blood. Four killers ended his 24 year old life. In your darkest nightmare you can’t imagine the grotesque hate that was unleashed on my brother's body. Three murderers have yet to be brought to justice. Justice delayed is justice denied.
Hate was in my heart, but it only poisoned me. I reached for vengeance, but did I really want the consequences of grasping and extinguishing another man’s life. I dreamt of violence. Forgiveness was my freedom.
I sought justice through peaceful means, writing countless emails and letters to governors of FL and state attorneys. I did not achieve justice but found something far greater. Live free of hate, share love and light with others. This honors Troy, a brother, son, cousin, nephew, uncle, friend, and grandson. #georgefloyd #hope #love #humanity #light #mlk - 4 minutes ago
