#spirituallymindedislifeeternal 💗 Week 119
“But behold, he did deliver them because they did humble themselves before him; and because they cried mightily unto him he did deliver them out of bondage; and thus doth the Lord work with his power in all cases among the children of men, extending the arm of mercy towards them that put their trust in him.” Mosiah 29:20 This is the gospel teaching my kids and I focused on this week. There is so much we can learn from this verse:
-the Lord works with his power in ALL CASES
-He extends His arm of mercy to ALL who put their trust in Him
-the promise that the Lord will deliver us.
This requires effort on our part to HUMBLE OURSELVES and to PRAY FERVENTLY, to pour out our whole souls to Him in prayer. God’s promises are sure; He WILL help us in our struggles, our afflictions, our worries, our hardships.
I chose this verse for my family to focus on a week ago (May 24). With all that has transpired in this past week, I have thought many times about promises in this scripture. I have also thought about different ways each of us are in bondage: hatred, violence, ignorance, fear. Each of these hold us back from living and loving as God would. God can help us—each of us—to do better and to become better. If we look at the word “deliver” in the way a woman delivers a baby, we can look to God to deliver us, to give us new life and new hearts. If we look at the word “deliver” as we do with packages, we can envision ways God can transport us from who we were to someone more like Him. All it requires is for us to put our trust in Him and to do our best to improve. As this verse teaches, the Lord WILL EXTEND THE ARM OF MERCY towards each of us as we choose to put our trust in Him.
