❌ The Raw Truth ❌
Let’s talk menstruation. Now for all you out there, going ew gross, please do yourself a favour and grow up. This topic is something that has bothered me for a while and I think it’s something that needs to be more normalised. People need to realise that a women’s body is bloody complicated (pun intended 😉). We have varying levels of hormones throughout our body, which changes every day depending on our cycle. These hormones causes all sorts of changes to us mentally and physically each month. Now this photo here is from today after I completed running training session and I just want to share with you all that in all honesty I don’t feel fit at all in it, I feel bloated, extremely tired and definitely just overall blah (all you ladies will get what I mean 🙋🏽♀️) and yes you guessed it I’m on my period. Personally, I think it needs to be made more normalised in our society today, that our periods do change us physically and mentally depending where we are at in our cycle, but that does not change how much progress we have made mentally and physically as an athlete. We need to be made aware that we are not always going to look like fitness models out there with our six packs. We are going to get days when we look pregnant, because we are that bloated and that’s totally normal and okay!
I’m not going to lie, it still frustrates me when I look in the mirror at my bloated and crampy belly and see all that progress I had made gone, but what I do know is that this completely natural and I’ll be back to feeling good again in a couple of days.
I really want to try and be more honest and raw with my Instagram, as I can see how much I have just skipped over my period weeks and just not posted when I’m feeling like this, because I felt so self conscious. But I’m slowly learning that my little voice can have a big impact too, even if it is just for one person. So I think it’s important to me to share the true side of me and my beliefs in that any body shape or size makes you the person you are and we should be proud of that! 💗💫 - 19 minutes ago
