Why is it that when you feel physical pain like having a knee injury or a back problem you see a pshyiotherapist, or when you feel sick & need a prescription, you go to your doctor. But when your mind is constantly chattering, I'm not good enough, skinny enough, smart enough, we dont do anything with it, we try compensate, avoid feelings and just push our emotions down. Unfortunately this over time takes an impact on your happiness.
Seeing a therapist, practicing meditation, journaling really helps create the space for you to bring your thoughts and feelings into awareness. This give you the opportunity to grieve, feel, adapt, make changes, whatever it is that is needed to take you one step further to inner peace.
