Let’s go into the weekend on a positive note despite the bleak week in the world (apparently even “Parasite” and Brad Pitt aren’t even off limits from disparagement). Of course, this quote from Miles, the greatest musician of my lifetime, has been my credo ever since I became a music critic 33 long years ago. There’s good music in all genres but you just have to seek it out and keep an open mind. Too often, people get judgmental and condescending when it comes to music they don’t understand. Embrace the world with open eyes and open ears. Of course, I have my favorites who I go back to over and over (that will be overt in my new novel), but I love to be surprised by music across the spectrum and am always learning new things. So enjoy the weekend and spend some time with good music (no recommendations today from me but in the spirit of Miles, I’d say a little “In a Silent Way” would go far in making your life better).
