January 27th I stopped drinking diet Mountain Dew’s or any soft drinks and I stopped eating sugar and carbs. I am making mistakes along the way as I am learning, but this is HUGE progress for me. I have never been an overeater nor one to eat tons of junk food. But, I’m sedentary after work (too exhausted to move) and my usual one meal per day was eaten and then bedtime. Also, for my autoimmune disease, I’m on steroids and Remicade, which has the unfortunate side effect of weight gain. It’s been a gradual increase over time. Adding close to 10 lbs eating my way across Europe didn’t help either. 😳 And of course, 8 months ago I quit smoking, so that added a few more pounds. Bottom line, I was starting to hate myself. And that’s never a good sign.
But, almost a month ago, after a chat with a friend, something clicked and I went cold turkey. I already feel better and am excited to continue to get healthy.
