Big part of today’s practice was my “go to” flow. I do this flow a few times a week while mixing up both the pace and longevity. I developed it because I’m usually working out in my unfinished basement and the ceiling isn’t tall enough to perform a standing press or snatch. Did 3 sets of 6 reps per side with a 35 lb bell and then 3 sets of 3 reps per side with a 44 lb from @roguefitness. Get out and get after it. .

#workoutwednesday third run of the week ticked off. Pretty much the same route, went for an easy run but ended up being comfortably hard. Pretty standard tbh. Definitely need to get more runs in at either ends of the spectrum in, some 10 min miles and some hill/speed efforts, they'll come though.

Took a couple of pics tonight, amazing how the camera angle plays a part on how you see yourself. Pic 1 I think I look a bit chubby, pic 2 oh i look ok I'm doing well.

Came home and in true ready steady cook fashion chucked a few ingredients together and the macros were pretty much what I was after. High carbs, low fat and high protein, with a alpro chocolate milkshake for the win!

Just gotta keep grinding those days out!

Kettlebell Swing Walks for 30 minutes straight (with 53 lb kettlebells).

I would walk short trips up and down my gym floor with 10 seconds rest at the end of each transit.
.
I like to do stuff like this in place of traditional cardio. It gives me some great strength work while also getting long duration cardio type of benefits.
.
This exercise looks goofy as hell but it hammers the deep core muscles (obliques and transversus) and the upper back (rhomboids, teres, middle traps).
.
Controlling the torque of the swinging weights on each step is the job of those deep core muscles. As you do the swings, you bring in the upper back to swing the weights backwards. There is some front delt work, but I didn't feel it much there.
.
If you have kettlebells, try it...if you have dumbbells, it'll work with those, too.
.
Plus, since you're at home, nobody will make fun of you for how it looks :).
.
I didn't find it challenged the grip too much, because there was enough recovery with the interval nature of the workout.
.
I kept the first transit at full speed so you could see how the exercise is done but sped the rest of the workout up by 4000% (literally). It'll still give you a good idea of how the workout is done.
.
If you're looking for a unique challenge, it might be something you want to try...but again, practice with lighter weight first, to get a feel for it in a shorter time period. I don't want you to sneeze and rip yourself in half a day later .

Kettlebell Swings

This is probably the best time to dial in on your swings!

There are so many different variations and modifications on rep schemes, tempos, intensity, etc... that will make you work with just ONE piece of equipment.

I just ordered my set of kettlebells that only god knows when they’ll arrive.

Once you lock down your swings, you can play around with different exercises such as the single arm swings, squat ladders, single arm press, loaded carries, etc.

Thinking of demoing different kettlebell exercises and progressions later on in the week.

What do you guys think?
