Create a beautiful graveyard of food waste. 🐛🥬🌽🥦 .
Composting is turning something back into the same thing really - A closed loop from nature to nature. .
So it is so essential to separate food waste to our normal bin. Gentle reminder 1/3 of food is wasted in the world. Wasting food isn’t just wasted food - it’s also wasted money, time, energy, water, natural resources, labour, transportation etc.
The best thing to do is:
. -Eat the whole veg or fruit (stems, stalks, skin etc)
-Be creative with your leftovers
-Use your freezer to avoid wasting food
-Use skin, peels and other bits in your homemade cleaning products or when making fermented food. .
Otherwise if you still produce food waste (like we all do) and you live in the city and don't have the luxury to have a compost, then create a food bin either collected by your council or a food waste service. You can also ask your anyone in your neighbourhood if they own a garden with compost which you can collectively use.
If you plan on having a compost there's lots of options: a regular compost pile, a bokashi, a wormery, a hot compost etc... but there's some rules that goes with it. Anything that will break down goes in there really, and no cooked food, bones, meat, tea bags, root etc. - 37 minutes ago
