All our classes include lunges or squats with lots of variations! Reverse lunges are a great way to strengthen and tone the thigh and glute muscles! Its really important that we maintain and improve our leg strength to protect the hips and knees from early arthritis and injuries.  You can use a pole or roller for balance if required!  Always ensure you work within a painfree range and consult a physio if you are experiencing pain! In HIIT X Heidi youll notice there is a theme. The first circuit is always HIIT focused to spike the heart rate and mobilize fat cells. .

The rest of the circuits are strength focused and set in rep ranges designed to help you build muscle...with strategic bursts of plyometric exercises to keep it  ! There is a mix of lifting weights, body weight exercises and banded exercises. This combo helps to create lean, strong muscles.  Youre not spending your entire workout on the squat rack, but youre also not jumping the whole time. Variety is key!

Theres usually a burnout round to make sure those muscle fibers are breaking down and ready to repair themselves. Thats how muscle is built. 歹 A lot of people tell me I just want to be toned. Well, lean, strong muscles create tone. The more I workout the less I care about toning, but the good news is that it comes with the territory. Strong muscles = tone. .

 It really makes me so sad when people tell me that they cant do something because of their knees. 

儭儭 Having had more than half a dozen knee surgeries Im all to familiar with this concept. Every single time post-surgery I felt like I will never get back to where I was. And every single time I worked hard with strengthening exercises as well as stretching to get full mobility back. 

儭 Yes, I have relapses. Like when I went rock climbing and didnt pay attention when I fell 2 feet off the wall and my knee hyperextended. And yes sometimes in a deep squat one knee feels wonky and the other has a huge Bakers cyst that sometimes burst just enough to be annoyingly painful. But overall it doesnt stop me from working with bent knees. On my knees too. And its so important to keep the knees and hips mobile because it affects your back as well. 

So keep on squatting people. Maybe come to class tomorrow morning at 7:30. Follow the link in my bio.  Im very likely to incorporate this move again. Its a leg burner.

Work of the day: LEGS AND GLUTES! 返. It only takes 30 minutes.
.
1. WARM-UP: Never eve start to work out without warming up. This way you can prepare your muscles and joints before the real stuff, and like this you can avoid injuries. Go from head to toes, and take at least 10 minutes. Remember to do some squats and lunges before starring the routine. 
.
2. 40 secs work/ 20 secs rest: Try to do between 3-4 rounds. 
- Sumo squats: We want to focus here on our inner thighs. 
- Bulgarian split squats 20 sec each leg: Here we want to focus on our hamstrings and glutes, so try to split a little wider to get the work done.
- Squats close leg stance: Here we want to have those quads working! Don't rush it, keep the good technique here to take care of your knees. 
- Hip thrust: completely focus on glutes right here . Remember to not curve your back way too high on the way up, just squeeze on top and go down. 
- static lunges 20 secs each leg: a great exercise for quads and hamstrings. Try to keep a good rhythm and technique here! 
Always remember to breathe properly and try to do on every exercise, the same number of repetitions for every round, that way you will really push yourself even if you are feeling tired. 
And last but not least, S T R E T C H! This would help a lot to your recovery.

My turn today, it's our Legs 11 & the Peach workout. Far slower pace but a real leg burn.
