Recently I was in a group conversation about a feeling that many of us have experienced: when you're convinced that you can't or don't know how to do something, get anxious about a task or project before even starting, and then have to work through all that fear and fretting before you can really begin to work.
From another perspective, that feeling is just a sign that we're working at the edges of our skills, pushing over the borders of our comfort zones, and level up.
The first time I stood on my snowboard and looked over the edge of a blue trail, I panicked. Too steep! Too hard! Can't do it! No way! But... of course I could. I just had to move forward a little bit, and down the hill I went (mostly right-side up). If we don't stretch, we don't grow.
Postscript, February 2020: I snowboarded down that very trail this past weekend. :) It's easy now.
