"Take pride in how far you have come, and have faith in how far you can go!" Our world focuses so much on what we lack--be it money, what society deems "beautiful", prestige, or romantic success. But how about focusing on what we have and far we've come?
Four and half years ago I was in a very dark place. A place where I felt alone, lost and miserable. Of course, I can now see that this was a complete blessing. Crazy right?! That terrible time in my life pushed me to realize that something had to change, and fast. I was a loving daughter, supportive sister and dedicated teacher. Yet, I still felt unfulfilled. I hit a point in life where I was finished playing things safe and ready to figure out my purpose.
Since then, I've identified another calling--to become a wellness coach. The community I fell in love with, became my second family and I truly feel like my two joys in life finally connected--teaching and fitness. I sought training, build amazing relationships and now I stand on the cusp of living my ideal happy life. But is that always how I see the situation? Of course not.
On many days, I find myself focusing on how far I sill have to go. And you know what? Failing to acknowledge how far I've come robs me of a lot of joy and a lot of pride. I may not have everything figured out, but i've come a long way from where I was a few years ago.
I would be wiling to bet that you've made huge progress in the last few years as well, but are too focused on what remains to be done to see it. I invite you to start giving yourself credit for a lot of hard work and achievement. Celebrate the little things, because all victories are worthy to honor. Which one first? YOU!
