How to pick the right shade of foundation (14 shades)🙋🏻♀️ @getsetmakeuppk @maybelline 🌟REPOST🌟
It’s always so hard to find a shade that matches perfectly with our skintone and tbh, Maybelline has made life easier for our women by launching a good variety of shades that too are easily accessible.
So a lot of you ask me what is the correct way to
select your foundation shade? Well, here’s the secret! You ALWAYS swatch the foundation on your jawline and all the way till your neck because i) both your face and neck should be the exact same shade ii) if your face is darker and the rest of your body is lighter, you need to find a shade that’s neutral so that the foundation doesn’t look grey on you iii) if your face is lighter and the rest of your body is darker, then you need to go darker (it may sound surprising but that’s how it should be). We often overlook the fact that most of us have hyperpigmentation on our face, which means that we have multiple shades on just our face/ neck, so it’s not easy to determine which shade matches the best.
The science behind this is your shade is considered after determining the shade of the max surface area on your body.
In this video, you can see that a couple of shades matched my face perfectly BUT when you see them on my neck, the appear darker. So I always match my shade according to my neck because my face has a lot of hyperpigmentation and tends to appear darker in some areas and lighter in the rest.
For me, the shade 128 fit me the best and gave me a beautiful flawless finish in the end! .
P.S Always remember to let your foundation swatch dry down and settle to see if it oxidizes or not‼️
