Second race of the year complete and first medal recieved 😍🙌🏅#farnboroughhalfmarathon
I was a little dubious about going to this race as I should have been going with a good friend of mine @chasingchaplin but due to an unfortunate injury (wishing you a speedy recovery 😘) occurring she had to pull out which meant me going alone. 
But I pulled up my big girl pants and went anyway 👌
I was using the race as a training run, so planned to keep it easy, but as always race day vibes take over and I went a little quicker than planned. I felt good so decided sod it and pushed for a progressive last 3 miles too 🏃‍♀️
All in all a brilliant race, nice course, well organised and a lovely medal 🥰

The path to nowhere is the path to somewhere! This morning is the first time in so long I felt free flowing and wasn’t bothered when the run would end so I went for 10 instead of 8.

Got ill yesterday..😡😷🤒
Sneezing, running nose, coughing, and my throat hurts. I am very disappointed, I've not missed even one run since end of October, and now this happens.👿 Already missed yesterday's and today's run, I supposed it will take some days to fully recover. Not the best way to begin a new week, I hope you all have more luck than me!👍✌️

Sprint finish 😫

The crowds at the end of a finish line give you a huge lift and can miraculously inject a surge of energy that you didn't know you had left in you.

For me it highlights the different a strong mindset can make because at that point in a race you feel like you have nothing left in the tank yet you somehow manage to start sprinting as crowds of complete strangers shout and clap every runner over the line.

If you can summon up inspiration from your mind whether it be memories, aspirations or just motivational thoughts it can help you dig that bit deeper during any point in a race- while sticking to your planned race pace.

You find yourself doing this not only in races but hard training sessions as well. You're constantly training your mind when running, and the more you run the more time you spend investing in your mental strength.

Chasing down a target time in a race means literally nothing to anyone other than me so when I'm killing myself in a race I have no one to answer to other than myself.

If I ease up and start slowing down no one would care, but I'd know that weak part of me won when I really didn't want it to. I couldn't escape the fact that my resolve wasn't as strong as i what I wanted it to be. By not giving and and pushing myself harder than I though possible I can go to sleep every night knowing I can be strong when it matters.

The benefits of that investment come to fruition in many more contexts outside of running or exercise. I've always felt that's why running has been beneficial for my mental health and the stronger mindset has help me in the other challenges life has thrown up.

I think most students can vouch for the fact that we are definitely time pushed at the best of times, let alone in 3rd year and let alone when you are marathon training.
.
Can therefore become haaard to be motivated, especially in January when any summer sun seems miles away!!!! But honestly, baby steps in the winter lead to great victories in the summer!
.
Here are a few of my tips on how I stay motivated even when I cba (happens promise):
🌟 Think about WHY you are gyming / running etc. And not just for ‘gains’! Exercise has so many silent benefits e.g for your mind, soul and for taking a break out of a busy lifestyle!
🌟 You will never regret a workout (unless you get injured which would be a shame). Guaranteed endorphins afterwards.
🌟 Routine helps me so much. Getting stuck into the gym week after week then forms itself into a habit. Becomes easier with time so remember that when you go.
🌟 Discipline!! This is a big one. We will all have to do things in our lives we don’t want to do. Gym has been incredible at teaching me to love something I previously didn’t and to use it to better myself.
🌟 Accountability!! Find it easier to reflect on how my workouts were than other things which makes me feel positive!!
🌟 Social aspect. I went on a 14K yesterday with a friend and it was so lovely running with someone. Really recommend.

Einen schönen Start in die neue Woche wünsche ich 😎✌️
Hier kommt die Sonne raus - das gilt es zu genießen!
Eigentlich wollte ich die Woche mit einem Lauf starten. Ein 12er in Renntempo steht im Plan...
Aber es wollte einfach nicht laufen. Und noch dazu war es spiegelglatt 🙈
Also hab ich den Lauf abgebrochen, bin gemütlich nach Hause gejoggt und spare mir die Energie für meinen LongRun, der Übermorgen ansteht 😉

20 mile long run to test the controversial Nike ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT%. Very very bouncy, and feet move forward whether you want them to or not. After watching SAS Who Dares.. last night I had visions of bouncing out of bed at 6am today for my scheduled easy 6 miles. I woke naturally at 5:08, heard the rain and went back to sleep!!! Some days are hard but once you’re out then you just have to get it done. Eventually hit the roads at 7:15. The sun is out and it’s a great base run for this weeks training.

I’m genuinely going to fight for sub 3 hours and do what it takes to get in shape for it. Lots to of work ahead.
