This definitely won’t be the prettiest picture in your feed today but I had to share because I think it’s important.
I’m closer to 40 than I am 30 and I’ve been married over 15 years and guess what? This is the VERY first kitchen table my husband and I have bought.
To be fair, we had inherited a table from my family that worked great, but over the years its age began to show and still we never replaced it.
Could we have? Sure, but other things always seemed a bit more pressing and when Scot and I first got married we both agreed to do our best to always live within our means, so the table always got put off.
While Instagram may have us fooled that money trees exist, they definitely aren’t growing in my backyard 🤷🏼♀️
If I’m being completely transparent, it’s been hard to uphold that agreement at times and we’ve battled it out more than once…and I’ve lost nearly every single time.
This isn’t to say I’ve lived a life of hardship or squalor, by no means have I, but there are, have been and will continue to be so many things we pass by on so that we can continue to uphold that agreement.
And guess what? I am so incredibly grateful for a husband that is willing to tell me not yet, so that I am able to instead live the process.
The process is the magic. Don’t skip it. Don’t begrudge it. Be patient with yourself.
Pretty sure @scotgregory is going to save the post to remind me the next time I’m jonesing to blow the budget…😳 - 7 minutes ago
