Throughout my career as a PT I have always dabbled in using these makeshift cricket bats as a way to pass time between clients. Over the last few years I decided to delve into how they can be properly used for reducing muscle tightness, soreness, increasing range of motion and lastly as a prop for pilates 👈🏼

There are so many different variations of bridge pose. This is one of my favorites 🙌

I'm combining a figure 4 stretch with bridge pose which gives me the opportunity to work on hip extension and hip flexion on the supporting side and hip external rotation on the other.

For an extra challenge, do some hovers on the externally rotated hip doing your best to keep all that external rotation.

It’s time for more mat Pilates, friends! 🙌🏼 This is the double knee stretch, a classic mat exercise for your core. In the photo, Chris is using a pilates circle, but you can just use your arms! The key with this exercise is to get those shoulder blades up off the mat if possible to engage the core, and make sure your lower back doesn’t arch too much while your legs and arms go opposite of each other. Keep that ribcage down, and feel your core ab muscles burn with this one! Don’t forget to breathe! 🙃 *Disclaimer: Please consult your Physical Therapist before performing this exercise if you are currently injured, experiencing pain, or have a medical condition that may limit your ability to perform this exercise. Your Physical Therapist will be able to determine if this movement is appropriate for you and/or if there are other exercises you can perform to strengthen similar muscles and get you moving!
