Sometimes living in the UK where police brutality isn't as harrowing or visible as in America, I forget the daily struggles and tribulations of the black community in other parts of the world. In no means is the UK free of racism on the streets or in the system.
Let's not forget all the black lives lost here to. Jimmy Mubenga was killed on a plane parked on Heathrow's runway after being restrained by three immigration officers. The inquests into his death was found to be *unlawful* yet all three officers were later acquitted of manslaughter... where is the justice served. Think about if that was your father, brother, son or loved one. It makes me sick to my stomach anyone, of any colour, sexuality, religion or belief would be murdered or treated differently on that basis. No, justice served, only adding to another statistic. No lesson to be learned to prevent the following perpetrators or generations to come. There is absolutely no reason on this earth why this should be okay.
Please activly support the #BLM movement. When black lives and other ethnic minorities lives matter, all lives matter. Equality and in turn justice is the real goal. My life is *NOT* less important because I'm black. We both bleed the same, we are both are entitled to live without terror and discrimination.
It is not about #GeorgeFlloyd as a singular, it's about the gallons of blood that is on the hands of the people who are in place to protect us all. It's about the systematic racism, racial profiling and racial inequality people of colour face on a daily basis.
If you are unable to donate or want to risk being a part of a protests. Please share the many BLM supportive content that is circulating currently.
If you are neutral in the situations of injustice you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If you are neutral in this situation of injustice you are a racist. If that statement offends you, then you are a racist without even knowing and very big part of the problem.
