TURKISH GET UP TUTORIAL (PART ONE)
~
Oh, there are hijinks, but before we get to the Seinfeld references, acrobatics and other silliness, let’s touch on a few things...
~
1)The Turkish Get Up (TGU, henceforth) is a series of movements, each of which has a tremendous benefit in the right context.
~
2)While I suppose you could call this a “core” exercise it is absolutely not a crunch or a sit-up. If you try to make that your main means of getting up, the universe will put you right back down on your back again when you start using weight.
~
3)This isn’t really a movement conducive to the usual “tissue assassin” mentality some of us have when it comes to exercise. I encourage all ye to abandon trying to figure out how this is helping burn fat and/or breakdown and rebuild muscle when it comes to this. Just honor and appreciate the movement of your body in the TGU.
~
Part 1 is today, Part 2 is tomorrow. I filmed lots of smaller videos as there is a lot to unpack here, and it should be easy to find the section you want to go over again.

If you are alive, you can workout. It’s as simple as that. Don’t use this quarantine bullshit as an excuse to not workout. Some of the shit that I’ve seen on social media in regards to at home workouts have been insane. Crazy ingenuity, insane amounts of creativity and just sheer will to get a good pump. You don’t need crazy ass equipment to stay/get healthy, you just need to want it.

High frequency the right way. New PR 165x1. 91% of my bodyweight.

I'm doing no more than 10 reps a day 5 to 6 days a week. Most reps are around 60-70% of my max and I spend 3-8 minutes a day on overhead press. This is my third week doing this test. I plan to continue for 8 weeks total.

I know high frequency works if your entire program is based on it but I wanted to test if I could mix and match high frequency for one movement with other movements at higher intensities and volumes.

Actually forget all that the secret is to scream during the rep.

In the spirit of staying positive and motivated I've uploaded my favourite and biggest lifts of the year to remind me of how far I've come and why it's important to keep training and to keep my diet in check. I want to make sure that I can get back down to business as soon as the gym opens.
