Did your holiday weekend look different this year?

But what didn’t change was JOY!

Getting yummy made in house ice cream was a joy treat for us (& yes that group behind us in the photo were 6 feet behind us in line:)

Plus if I’m choosing my treat food this weekend as ice cream-it’s a great choice to have the good stuff!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Despite all the hard parts of life right now, we’ve been talking to the kids daily about focusing on what is going well & to keep some perspective! We talked to them about what this day means & why we celebrate. Sending gratitude to all those that serve our country & the families that support them! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Also remembering my Grandpa-a WWII vet, it’s 21 years ago today that he passed away. Grateful for 19 Memorial Day weekends I had with him at Lake MI ❤️

I just wrote a long Instagram post--it was literally the funniest, best thing I've EVER written, but you'll have to take my word for it, because it DISAPPEARED. Oh wait. I think I know where it went. One sec, I have to go check. (This is me going to check.) (I checked.) I found it. My bad. I'm going to leave this caption as-is though, as everyone is always talking about "authenticity" and what could be more authentic than everything I just wrote. Okay. I'm going to go eat the crumbs out of the salt&vinegar chip bag now. Wait. Is this TOO authentic? Be honest. (Don't be honest.)⁣

A beginner friendly yoga sequence for the lower body and for those so sit a lot all day. You could even these poses after a long day at work as a lot of work is done here to stretch the hip flexors and to strengthen the Glutes.
.
If you hold each pose for ~30s it’ll take about 10 mins for the 10 poses and you can conclude with 15 rounds of equal breathing. .
Why I’ve chosen these poses:
.
1. To release the QL and other spinal muscles that get compressed after sitting all day
.
2. Hip flexor ~ emulating the act of sitting without actually sitting and keeping it active instead of passive 🙂
.
3. Quad and hip flexor stretch to while also bringing in an element of balance
.
4. Active posture ~ isometrically pull your front foot back and back knee forward.
.
5. Hamstring stretch ~ keep pulling the front foot back isometrically
.
6. Going deeper into the hip flexors and the quads .
7. Some core and balance while lengthening the hamstring
.
8. Strengthening the glutes with active hip extension
.
9. External rotation of the hip for better balance and stability .
10. Not the deep puppy pose just a neutral spine with stretch mostly in the shoulder joint
.
11. Concluding with 15 rounds of equal breathing to give your practice the final touches ❤️

Rainy run with the littlest one 🌧⁣

Rainy front heading our way and I’m kinda pumped for all the rainy workouts in my near future ! ⁣

It’s been a BUSY Memorial Day weekend, 1 birthday party,  1 coat of primer , 3 coats of paint, new faucets, spray pain victories , spray paint fails, endless online orders , 2 runs and a crawler !!!! WHEW 😴 ⁣

This is to represent the other side:
Strong minded, getting nearly all the time  the long path and avoiding the easy shortcut.
Strong sense of responsibility, eager (sometimes too eager) to get things done.

You have got the message, I am sure.
.
One needs the other ( I mean my first post)  to create a life where prana pulses - because it does - with all my experiences - 
but flowing smoothly without excesses in any sides.
.
That is the DAILY exercise that includes diet, relationships, work... .
It is a thin line - stress out body and mind consistently and you will end up dwelling with sukha’s evil twin dukha, or “bad space.” You will become increasingly exhaustive, reactive, and impatient. Eventually you will fall ill.
.
Last point:
It doesn’t matter if you think you have a “balanced” life if you don’t have a balanced DIET.
Think diet as your FUEL for prana - you need fuel to breathe, move, think practice, work ...
So.
Start creating good space from what you eat, the rest will follow.
