“I STILL PREPARE MYSELF FOR PAIN.” That’s what I said to my sister, the day this photo was taken. I still anticipate it, in my body, before making certain movements, even though the pain has gone.
Simple things would make me stop - breathe - consider how to best move through the action. Showering, cleaning my teeth, putting plates into the dishwasher. Anything that involved drawing my knee towards my chest: putting on knickers, shoes & socks. Caution, utmost care and deep breathing so as not to trigger more pain than necessary.
And, yes, even though I’ve fully reduced my inflammation and fully reversed my autoimmunity issues (negative blood tests!) - I still brace myself.
Trauma holds on & runs deep.
Chronic inflammation is no joke.
What starts as a trickle will end in a flood & trust me, you don’t want to get dumped by that wave.
You can heal. You can get better. You can turn things around, naturally and forever.
