It has been a long time since I shot the stars. But Saturday night, it was perfect out. As everyone was going to bed around 11, I got all bundled up, walked onto the ice, and starting shooting. Getting this photo takes some work and trial and error for sure. First off, framing it is impossible because the screen and view finder are black, so you gotta aim and pray. Second the foreground was so dark, so I used my flash and triggered it 4-6 times aiming it at different trees and dock to illuminate them while my camera took the photo (15 sec shutter). Another really cool aspect of this photo is, the cabin had no lights on inside, but because the wood stove has a small glass door, the orange glow from the fire illuminated the entire cabin giving off this orange fiery goodness.
