One of the most frequently asked questions I get from my PCOS clients is do I have to avoid coffee? .

As we all know losing weight with PCOS presents unique challenges. One of the major reasons is a reduced metabolic rate (rate of energy expenditure or calorie burn for simplicity). So how do we go about burning more calories without being in extreme hunger and deprivation (which actually doesn't burn more calories in PCOS!). We employ practical startegies. ✅ INCREASE NEAT- don't just sit on the sofa, walk around your house, get things done. Dance for no reason and get cleaning!
✅EAT MORE PROTEIN- include protein with every meal, this actually requires energy (calories) for it to be broken down.
✅ STRENGTH TRAINING: I have some awesome beginner ones on my page!
✅HIIT- this burns more calories in a short period of time!
✅ DRINK MORE WATER: this will help you stay full!

It's been a while and I know all you cysters are on the edge of your seats waiting (LOL) but here is a third tip on how we can heal PCOS. As a reminder, my first two tips were diet 🥑 (eliminating dairy, gluten and refined sugars) and exercise 🏋🏼‍♀️. ⠀

• We has crazy scattered thunderstorms today ~ causing a beautiful rainbow 🌈
• I needed to see that rainbow today, I am losing hope

The key to well managed blood sugar levels is to consume well balanced and portioned meals and snacks regularly throughout your day to avoid any blood sugar highs and/or lows. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

In addition to regular, well balanced and portioned meals, I suggest aiming for quality sources of fat, protein and fibre at each meal as they can help to slow the absorption of glucose into your blood stream. I also suggest limiting your intake of refined and processed sugars and carbohydrates as they can spike your blood sugar levels.
