June 3 World Bicycle Day: When we ride bikes aside from overuse of our leg muscles, there’s body parts which would carry our whole body weight which is our spines in sitting, & another region that absorbs the impact which is the hips that stabilises our knee bend/straightening. ————-
Reposting my old content for educational purposes (not marketing since fitness gyms & sports coaching facilities are closed) with the new normal which is 🚲 for social distancing & physical separation for protection. Not only do we have to protect our bodies from Covid🦠19 virus but also from 🤕injuries😭in cycling since bikes are in demand (sold out) for convenience in going to work or wellness proposes. ————-
How do we protect our bodies from cycling body pain and injuries?
1.) Mobility - Pelvis (Changing the position of your hips would change the position of your spine and legs too due to body attachments). 2.) Flexibility - Feet. (Varies upon evaluation; outweighing pros & cons.)
3.) Stability - Gluteals
4.) Strength - Knee & Whole Back Musculature.
5.) Bike Fit - Varies on your height, weight, movement. I’m not a bike fitter but I know a bike nerd that just like me shares helpful & practical tips for free with basis which is @frederick_forwardmotionfits a bike fitter professional with many cycling certifications. Pm him if you need bike fitting appropriate & specific to you. ————-
Posted within this post is a video showing how I as a Physical Therapist handles a cycling athlete’s concerns.
Cycling is the new normal mode of transportation due to physical distancing & restricting full public vehicle jeepney/bus rides. ————-
