so today i finally put all the trash from the beach i live on into a spreadsheet and categorized by type of material. the reason why is to potentially see trends in a couple months of what we see a lot of here on the sea coast or maybe an increase in some material that can be linked to new developments or new construction near by. i collected a total of 117 pieces that totaled 5301g which is 12 pounds in just about an hour. most of the weight came from the cage pieces i have. we can see in the pictures the amount of small plastics and lots of rope, hurts my heart to see the 4th picture from the bungee cords that when they break the rubber comes out and looks very animal like especially in the ocean. the last three pictures are these tape like pieces i found i put them in as vinal because i thought that was the closest to what it may be, if anyone has an idea or knows exactly what it is would be very helpful since i do categorize them and i had different types of tape. if anyone wants some more info about what i found let me know happy to share!! everyone can make a conscious choice to throw away these products correctly or even just trying to stay away from products that can get into the ocean or that are harmful to the outdoors around us.
