All you see is the tall rigid frame of a man.
But what’s not visible to the eye,
is the small child locked inside him
trying to break free.
He was once like us.
(That is, if we even consider ourselves normal)
No longer is he the jolly kid living next door.
Life had swept him away
and he’d faced the harsh realities of life.
Heartbreak was all it took,
to mould him into another person.
Long gone, is his childish behavior.
Long gone, is the boy who was annoying yet adorable.
Now, there’s this sense of emptiness
within him which he just can’t explain.
Being alone before was not an option.
But now, it has become his habit.
No longer, does he hold the innocence of a child.
No longer, does he care about what others think.
Call him a loner, he won’t bother.
Call him a weirdo, he won’t care if you do so.
He himself doesn’t know whether he is simply sad or broken beyond repair.
No longer does he trust anybody.
No longer does he have any hope left.
All he yearned for, was a hand to hold on to.
He yearned for someone to hold him close
as he cried his heart out.
All he ever wanted was for someone to reason quietly with him.
All that’s left now, is the shell of what he used to be. People now say, “ He has become a man”. No, I beg to differ.
“He is simply the boy who grew up”.
