WHATS UP FAM BAM!? Hope everyone’s week is just spectacular. I don’t know about you guys, but this month is party central. Something going on every weekend until the end of the year. And by something, I mean a gathering that includes food and alcohol. Not mad one bit, BUT because of that I’m trying my best to keep eating during the week in check!! Life is all about balance, remember?! ⁣

Here’s an EASY LUNCH HACK that I’ve been loving lately👉🏼 Bagged salad and add your own extras! I used the Kale mix from @heb and added air fried potatoes (380F for 20 min) and toasted walnuts to make it extra delish.⁣

So easy to throw together and tastes bomb. Have a killer rest of your Tuesday!!🤘🏼😈🐿

Friday’s are usually my day to sleep in, but today I woke up early, got a bit of work done, went for a 4 mile run, and am now headed back to Louisiana for my baby brother’s 1st birthday this weekend. Busy busy and one thing to the next, but that’s how I roll.🏃🏼‍♀️⁣

I hope everyone is able to squeeze in some “you” time today or this weekend. My “me” time was going for a 40 minute run this morning. It was such a nice way to start this busy weekend. The most important thing you see here isn’t the pasta or veggies... but the 𝐒𝐀𝐔𝐂𝐄🤤⁣
I made this random peanut butter stir fry sauce to mix into today’s lunch and it’s literally finger lickin’ good. Like, I actually licked the spoon and bowl clean...⁣

I highly recommend this sauce any time you have a bowl of random ingredients to add tonsssss if flavor! The only con... you’ll want to eat the whole pan like I did😈⁣

Add 2 heaping tbsp of nut butter, 3 tbsp coconut aminos (or soy sauce), 1 tbsp sesame oil, and 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar to a bowl. Whisk until super smooth. No seasonings needed!🥡⁣

Add to anything - it’s seriously that good.

Current situation: my throat feels like it’s on fire and it’s hard to talk/swallow. Not strep, but clearly something else. Waiting to hear back from the doc! In the meantime, I’ll be resting and snacking on this yummy bowl of homemade soup.⁣

It was super easy to make! I picked up a container of Pho broth from a local restaurant ($3.00) and added what I had on hand into the pot.⁣
First, I sautéed some carrots, purple sweet potatoes, and mushrooms in coconut oil. Once softened, I added the broth and brought to a simmer.⁣
I added a few handfuls of @eatbanza pasta (or any kind you have on hand), and cracked a few eggs into the pot.⁣
While the noodles cooked, the eggs poached, and it was pure magic.⁣
Everything finished up right at the same time!⁣
⁣
It made two servings so I had one for lunch and will have the other one for... second lunch😈

Today, I’m freeking thrilled to get back into my routine. While I love a good foodie weekend, my body is ready for a reset. And by reset, I don’t mean fasting, a juice cleanse, or anything along those lines. I mean starting today off with a nutritious meal, getting my exercise in, and setting myself up for success for the rest of the week.⁣
⁣
If you’re feeling the food guilt creep over your shoulder, show it who’s boss... YOU! Starting today, let’s get back into a routine. Get your grocery shopping in, start with a fresh fridge, meal prep a few things if you have the time, eat LOTS OF FOOD that is good for you, and sweat plenty. You probably will not feel back to normal or will rid the bloat after one day, but give it some time and you’ll be right back on the train of feeling great. I’m with you!💜🤘🏼⁣

Saturday I prepped these things ahead for the week and am so excited to build my lunch for later.⁣
I’ve got: ⁣
-Bison and grass fed beef red gravy made with @sfaita primavera sauce (found at HEB, and it’s clean and delish)⁣
-Spaghetti squash (for under the gravy)⁣
-Roasted brussels and butternut squash⁣
-Cooked chicken sausage (in the meat section at HEB - nothing fancy, but quick to grab and go for some protein)⁣

I also plan to prep a bit more today if I have the time. All of the above took maybe an hour! Pop it in the oven and move onto the next thing. If you want exact recipes to any of these, message me!🔥⁣

Stretching after my long run this morning and am feeling super grateful for lots and lots of things... but specifically, this platform that I call my home.⁣

@pumpandcrunch was created about 3 years ago, with the hope helping at least one person out there in the Instagram world. My goal was and still is to provide a safe space, welcome to any and all, where people come to find healthy food, fitness motivation, and REAL LIFE stuff. Ya know, the usual.⁣

Instagram can be falsely intimidating at times, and what you see, usually isn’t what you get. But here, I try my best to not hide anything and to be my most real, true self (even admitting that I can demolish a half gallon of ice cream in one sitting). I have a hangover... a FOOD hangover. And it’s the best. Curing my swollen fingers and toes this morning with a fresh start, this nourishing breakfast, and a long run around my hometown.⁣

I have ZERO food guilt ZERO regrets for the foods I enjoyed yesterday, but I am going to do what I LOVE today, and that’s eat healthy and exercise.💜⁣

Happy Friday &&& CHRISTMAS COOKIE SEASON!!!🎅🏼 If you know me, you know I  l o v e  all things sweet (especially cookies). Challenge me to a dozen cookie eating contest (cooked or just the dough) ... I DARE YOU. They’re my weakness in life. But instead of chowing down on cookies that are packed with artificial sugars and yucky ingredients, I made some of my own that (I still can’t believe) 1. I didn’t destroy, 2. taste bomb, and 3. are made of clean ingredients!👏🏼🎄🍪⁣

Let’s make my 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐓𝐇𝐘 𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐔𝐓 𝐁𝐔𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐂𝐎𝐎𝐊𝐈𝐄𝐒👇🏼⁣
▫️Melt 3 tbsp coconut oil in a microwave safe mixing bowl. Add 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter and 1/2 cup coconut sugar and combine well.⁣
▫️Next add 1 egg white and 1 tsp vanilla extract and stir to combine.⁣
▫️Finally, add 3/4 cup almond flour, 1/2 tsp baking soda, and a pinch of pink sea salt and combine well.⁣
▫️Preheat oven to 350F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.⁣
▫️Scoop 18-20 small cookies onto your pan 1-2 inches apart. FREEZE THE DOUGH for 20 minutes - then treat yourself to a cold ball of dough because let’s get real, the cookie dough is the best. ⁣
▫️If you have any left after eating the dough, bake cookies at 350F for 9 minutes. Remove from oven and aside to cool on the baking sheet for 10 more minutes.⁣
▫️Done!! They’re ooey, gooey, and will fall apart in your mouth. Try not to eat the whole pan!😜⁣

I eat chili year round. Whether the weather is hot, cold, medium, whichever, whatever, I love a yummy bowl of chili. And I make mine differently every time I whip up a batch! However... even though I’m not a “measurer” in the kitchen, I’m writing this chili version down because it’s the best one I’ve ever made. GAME CHANGER, Y’ALL!

So if you’re in a rut on what to cook for dinner, meal prep, anything.. I’ve got you covered! @hope.houstonhair @kinglindss and I will be grubbing down on this over the weekend for a healthy meal (if it even lasts through the weekend😜) BEST CHILI EVER RECIPE👇🏼
▫️Sauté 1 diced onion, 1 diced green bell pepper, 1 diced (seeds removed) poblano pepper, 2 tbsp minced garlic in 1 tbsp avocado oil over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
▫️Add 3 tbsp water and 1 tbsp butter to the pot and continue cooking 5 more minutes.
▫️Finely chop 6 strips raw bacon and add to the pot. Stir and cook 10 minutes.
▫️Season with 1/2 tbsp salt, 1 tsp black pepper, 1 tsp garlic powder, 2 tsp cumin, 2 tsp chili powder. Stir well.
▫️Add 1 lb grass fed ground beef to the pot. Use a meat masher to grind up the beef small and brown fully.
▫️Open a 28oz can (Red Gold - yellow can) Whole Peeled Tomatoes. Mash the tomatoes using your fingers and add them, plus the juice to the pot.
▫️Also add 15oz (1 can) each of drained, rinsed black beans, dark kidney beans, and pinto beans. - (*Note: I found black beans and pinto beans that had “lime and jalapeños” in them at HEB in Houston. If you can find these, use them! If not regular is fine.)
▫️Stir, bring to a simmer, cover, and cook about an hour.
▫️I had a leftover ribeye bone that I added to the chili for extra flavor, which is totally not necessary, but if you randomly have one lying around, toss it in!

Tacos are an awesome way to “spice” up your breakfast situation. I ate these before my workout this morning and they took only 10 minutes to throw together. Here’s what I did👇🏼⁣
⁣
Warm tortillas slightly to avoid breaking.⁣
Spread @sietefoods cashew queso on the tortilla.⁣
Add a pinch of fresh arugula and a scrambled egg to each taco.⁣
Top with pomegranate seeds and @traderjoes EBTB seasoning for a little sweet/salty combo.⁣

Thanksgiving is pretty much HERE and I’ve got a few recipes stored up to share with you fabulous squirrels this week.⁣

First being my 𝐅𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐑𝐎𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐁𝐑𝐔𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐒. They’re to die for, right @sarahkristineee ???⁣⁣

Here’s how I made them👇🏼⁣⁣

In a large mixing bowl, add 1 diced, large honey crisp apple (about 1 1/2 cups), 2 bags brussels, stems removed, cut in halves (about 4-5 cups), 2 tbsp olive oil, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp black pepper, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice. Stir together to coat the veggies.⁣⁣
Dump onto a baking sheet and cook at 350F for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle 1/3 cup dried cranberries and 2 tbsp goat cheese to the top. Add back to the oven for another 10 minutes. Remove from oven, stir together to spread the cheese evenly, and SERVE!⁣⁣

It’s officially HOLIDAY SEASON and that means two things......⁣
1) Happiest time of the year⁣
2) Motivation and healthy eating goes in the trash⁣

I’m in the same boat, y’all. It’s hard to keep it ‘clean’ during the holidays! But we can give it our best effort while making sure to still enjoy this season.⁣
⁣
Although chocolate chip cookies definitely taste better than a bowl of arugula, I encourage everyone this holiday season to practice  b a l a n c e  and set goals for yourselves! Here are some examples:⁣
-Not drinking during the week⁣
-Eat a healthy breakfast every day⁣
-Exercise 3-4x per week⁣
Specific to you, of course, but make sure they’re realistic and maintainable.⁣

Now... I know the typical “healthy” meals can get super boring, right? Like, we can only eat a grilled chicken breast and asparagus so many times a week.. I get it, believe me. I’ll be sharing some fun weeknight dinner/meal prep ideas to help you guys stick to your goals this holiday season, and it’s mighty delicious😋⁣

🌲𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐋 𝐂𝐀𝐄𝐒𝐀𝐑 𝐃𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐆👉🏼 Keep this on hand in the fridge to top your greens, eggs, meat, salads, veggies, anything really. It’s so darn good!⁣
▫️BLEND: 1/3 cup olive oil, 1/3 cup lemon juice, 1 can anchovies with the juice, 1 packed cup fresh basil, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp black pepper. DONE!⁣

🌲𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐂𝐇 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐅𝐄𝐓𝐀 𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐄𝐍 𝐁𝐔𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐑𝐒👉🏼 Regular ground chicken burgers can be a drag, and quite dry, right? Spice them up with this recipe and you can eat on them all week!⁣
▫️MIX: 1 lb ground chicken, 1/2 bag spinach (blended together with 1 tbsp olive oil and 2 tbsp water to form a green “sauce”), 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese, 1/4 cup almond flour, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp pepper, 1 tsp garlic powder.⁣
▫️FORM into patties and COOK about 7 minutes per side on a skillet.⁣

When Bear left this earth a few months ago, I knew I wanted a tattoo in honor of him. But not a paw print or his name. I knew something wonderful would eventually come to me... and it’s not what I initially expected. But I love it.⁣

The lotus flower symbolizes inner strength, purity of the heart and mind, enlightenment, and self-regeneration. All which I thank him for these past few months he’s been gone.⁣
⁣
You might be thinking... a tattoo of a flower for your dog? ON YOUR CHEST?! A tattoo (in general) for your dog? Come on Cail, its just a dog.⁣
Not just any dog. To me, Bear represents the most beautiful fire that’s been lit inside of me. He was a physical, living item that presented itself to me for a period of time in my life. He taught me about joy, pure happiness, and how to treat others with a very special kind of kindness. And for that, I’ll always have him with me. Represented by the most beautiful flower near my heart, always.⁣

And as for the PURPLE hair.... All the credit goes to MY GIRL SQUIRREL @hope.houstonhair at the greatest salon in Houston @theparlourhouston 😈😈😈😈😈⁣

Do you EAT TO LIVE or LIVE TO EAT?!⁣

I live to eat, all the way. I love food. Obsessed with figuring out my next meal whether it’s cooking or going out to eat. That’s just how I am, and I love that about myself! Although it’s taken a while, I’ve (for the most part) figured out how my body works, how much I can/need to eat, what fuels me properly, what irritates my body, etc. It’s a fun process!⁣
⁣
Now... let me fill you in on a little secret... While I love my healthy meals I prepare for myself, I equally love unhealthy junk foods and have zero self control when they’re around me. If you challenge me to eat an entire half gallon of blue bell and a dozen choc chip cookies in one sitting, I’ll surprise you (right @kinglindss and @hope.houstonhair ?). But I’ll be suffering a slow and painful death afterwards because my body hurts so badly...⁣

💸So here’s the million dollar question that I get asked very often👇🏼⁣
Since I love junk foods and sweets and have no self control around them, HOW do I stay on track with healthy eating and still enjoy myself and my meals?⁣

I have an answer for you!⁣
⁣
-Learn to love fresh ingredients.⁣
-Don’t classify foods as “healthy” because sometimes that term turns us off to it, right? (Example: I’m going to eat ‘healthy’ tonight. Wait nah, I want a burger.)⁣
-Shop the produce section because those foods are fresh, beautiful, and delicious.⁣
-Make time to prepare ahead so temptations don’t fall into play.⁣
-Don’t make cooking at home a lengthy task (unless you want to, like me😉).⁣
