What if we started treating our bodies as well as we treat our phones?
When you see your phone running low on battery, do you keep using it with all apps open, screen always left unlocked, on full brightness? Or do you try to conserve the energy as best you can, and find somewhere to plug in and charge it as soon as possible?
Why don’t we have the same sense of urgency in reaction to the warning signs from our bodies?
When properly cared for, we can use both as tools to connect and have fun, to engage with and move through the world. But when we are careless with them, damage happens.
If you see y o u r power is close to empty - don’t ignore it! Plug yourself in to your own personal sources of fuel. It’s not a “charge once and then you’re set for life” kind of scenario. We brush our teeth every day, we (likely) charge our phones every day, and we need to care for our bodies in one way or another every day.
Different people will require vastly different types of fuel. If this feels like a minefield to you, or you are in any way stuck on finding what works for you, please feel free to reach out to me privately. I’d love to talk about it with you. - 30 minutes ago
