Cranbrook, British Columbia: Uncertainty. Always uncomfortable, yet a frequent visitor to our lives. Like most everyone else, I like for life to unfold with some level of predictability: I want to write the chapters, and read them without diversion. And only move on to the next one when I’m good and ready. But it’s just not how it goes. Life rips out pages and abruptly ends chapters. Life adds a few lines here and there. And someone is always writing in the margins or using a highlighter indiscriminately. We have to react, adapt, and rewrite, and even sometimes erase errant notes. On the other side of all that is brighter light and a new chapter. There’s nothing to do but live through it with the faith you have and the faith you will develop. And this is my experience, the faith that’s not there will come, and your book will be more rich, more engaging and more complete because of it. It will be tattered and worn, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I wish you strength in uncertainty today, and the faith to propel you as you move toward your next chapter, whatever that may be.
“Embrace uncertainty. Some of the most beautiful chapters in our lives won’t have a title until much later.” — Bob Goff
