A #VEGANUARY BLT RECIPE 🤑 hmmm or should I say TLT??? 🤷🏻♀️
This smoky tofu bacon will change your LIFE. It is super easy to make and will most certainly satisfy those bacon cravings 🥓 It’s srsly the best sandwich ever 👼🏼 HOW DO I MAKE THIS??!! 1️⃣ Preheat the oven to 190c (170c fab assisted). Cut a block of SMOKED extra firm tofu (@tofooco is my fave) into VERY thin slices. Pat each slice dry with a sheet of kitchen towel and set aside.
2️⃣ In a small bowl, mix together 3.5tbsp soy sauce/tamari, 1tbsp maple syrup, 1tbsp tomato purée, 1tsp apple cider vinegar, 2tsp olive oil & 1tsp smoked paprika. Dip each slice of tofu in the mix, coating it thoroughly, then lay them evenly spaced on a lined baking tray.
3️⃣ Bake the tofu slices in the oven for 35-40 minutes, turning once halfway through, until they are crisp around the edges and chewy in the middle. Be sure to watch them carefully towards the end of the cooking time to make sure they don’t burn!! 4️⃣ Layer the tofu bacon up with crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes, vegan mayo and avo (not traditional I know, but it’s a welcome addition in my eyes 👀) between two slices of fresh sourdough.
