From my Foundation Diploma in Art & Design at Hereford College of Arts (2015/2016 aged 18/19). From Part 2, the Future Collections Project.
This is a print I made in the Lino Print workshop that I signed up for. This was made in 2 layers where I printed the entire board using one colour then cut away what I wanted to reveal the background colour with another colour ontop
The tutor in the workshop suggested I used different colours for my work to bring the landscape to life. So here he let me experiment with blues and purples which none of the other students got to use
Lino printing is where a design is cut into a linoleum sheet using a V-shaped chisel or gauge. Raised areas represent a mirror-like image. A roller is inked up and rolled across the lino sheet. A layered coloured lino print can either be achieved by making multiple blocks for each colour or through the Reductive method whereby more of the plate is cut away after each colour.
A lino board has no grain meaning more artistic effects can be made. However, pressure from the printing press can elongate the board making it more fragile each time.
Dimensions: 14.4cm x 10cm
