Something you may or may not know about me is that I’m super sensitive. For years I have associated sensitivity with being high maintenance 😅
I always believed my feelings made me a lot to handle. It’s made me wish for thicker skin to care less so I will hurt less ya know?
I read an interview snippet this week and when the man being interviewed got asked: “why do you cry so often?” He said :”for the same reason I laugh so often. Because I’m paying attention.” 😭
That’s really how feelings work, isn’t it? Joy and grief are two sides of the same coin. We have to feel one in order to feel the other. My sensitivity may make me crumble at times, but it’s also my sensitivity that allows me to feel giddy over just how much I love my people. (It’s why I boo-hoo cried watching Toy Story 3) It’s your feelings that prompt you to care enough, to help to make a difference, and to fight for people who can’t fight for themselves. Your emotions aren’t a weakness, your emotions carry so much strength. 💛
So here’s my challenge for all of us even when life feels heavy: let’s keep feeling.
Don’t numb your heart to the bad because we need you to feel the bad. We need you to listen, to care, to act, to join in and to give whatever you can to the people who need it most. Keep your heart tender and open so you can make the bad better, and so you can experience the heights of the good. Because even when our world feels like it’s falling apart at the seams, they are still beautiful, wonderful, hopeful, glittery bits of life to be felt – it would be such a shame to miss them. - 35 minutes ago
