WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A WHITEHEAD VS A BLACKHEAD? 🤬 I meannnn.... both can be brutal. Whiteheads tend to loooove my chin and blackheads pay prime real estate on my nose at times. 💁🏼♀️ I never allow myself to look in a magnifying mirror, or I would legitimately go ham.
So here is the deal: blackheads and whiteheads are both clogged pores, aka comedones. The pores on our face house hair follicles + sebaceous oil glands. When dead skin and excess oil become backed up, it causes these darn comedones. 🙄 When the clogged pore is closed, all the dead skin, sebum, and cells become trapped within that pore and appears as a whitehead! 😐 When the pore remains open, the dead skin cells and sebum mix with air, causing oxidation and the black color.... and you got yourself a blackhead. 🤯
Luckily, both black & whiteheads can be treated with similar ingredients 🧴 - salicylic acid (prevents accumulation of dead skin cells), retinol (increases cell turnover), benzoyl peroxide (attacks bacteria preventing severe acne), & glycolic acid (clear out and smooth pores). Also, love having a goood mask in my arsenal to help draw and clean out those pores!! 💚 - 4 minutes ago
