ME Lower: 4” Deficit Conventional Deadlift
Video 1: 455lbs (~206kgs), 5lbs PR.
Video 2: 475lbs (~215kgs) , 25lbs PR. Phone moved and I got cut in the video.
500lbs coming in the next few weeks.
Did this variation after 5 years. 
Training the opposite (weaker) stance.
Came in today with the aim of using 405lbs for 5 reps in this variation but decided to max out as the warmups felt great.
This was followed by some accessories to strengthen weaknesses.

I’ve talked about how calorie balance dictates long-term changes in bodyweight

But what if you don’t want to track your calories and macros? Should everyone be tracking?
.
.
The answer to the latter question is NO - not everyone needs to nor should track their calories and macros
.
.
Instead, you can pay attention and honor internal hunger and satiety cues. In fact, I feel that everyone, even those that track macros, can benefit from observing the “symphony of hunger”. General signs of hunger include:
.
Gurgling or gnawing in the stomach
.
Growling noises
.
Difficulty concentrating
.
Light-headedness
.
Stomach pain
.
Irritability
.
Headache
.
Feeling faint
.
.
.
It helps to “check-in” with your body, and ask “What’s my hunger level?”. This can be done using a hunger scale such as the one pictured
.
.
We can use this scale in conjunction with food choices to achieve our body composition goals. If we’re in a fat loss phase, we can ensure we stay between ~3-7 on the hunger scale, while also eating plenty off fruits, vegetables, protein, and fiber. If we’re trying to put on mass, we can lean a bit further into the ~8-9 range on the hunger scale and/or incorporate calorie dense foods
.

An important point here, regardless of our goal is NOT to take the “eat only when hungry” mantra as a strict, rigid rule. We all eat at times for reasons other than physiological hunger, and that’s ok
.
.
While it takes some practice, this level of mindfullness around food helps us not only with our body composition goals, but can also help foster a positive relationship with food

Squats felt so good today! Felt really smooth even on this my last set of 345 pounds. It wasn’t on my program but I felt so good after that I decided to give 395 a go and got 3 solid reps. Today’s full workout: squats, paused bench press, strict overhead press, negative bent over rows, and good mornings. Everything is moving well. This is also the last week of block 1 of my competition prep.
