Do not try to save
the whole world
or do anything grandiose.
in the dense forest
of your life
and wait there
until the song
that is your life
falls into your own cupped hands
and you recognize and greet it.
Only then will you know
how to give yourself
to this world
so worth of rescue.
I really like this poem. Like any art form, perhaps we each read differently into what we see and hear depending on what we need, and depending on what state we find ourselves in at the time.
I am still contemplating this one.
For the moment, it reminds me again (and again) that I don't need to be running in my life all the time, it's ok if one day I don't study, or stick to my movement goal for the day or say yes to an offer to teach more, or "do". As much as I want to, I can't help everyone I meet who needs it, or know all the things I'd like about the body and the mind and philosophy so that I'll have the answers for myself or someone else in search of them.
And that's a beautiful thing and a relief, because we humans evolved to live in community.. I feel that deeply in this time. We are meant to support each other in this crazy, beautiful ride, and where my strengths are lacking someone else may find that they excel and visa versa and we grow together in that way.
Thank you to my friends who have been helping me to see this, helping me to see that sometimes in order to save the world like we'd like we have to first clean our basement. In the end, it does all come down to balance: we need the restoration and quiet to have the productivity and creation. We need to be able to listen in order to respond to our life's calling. To rest in order to become stronger.
How are you creating a clearing in the dense forest of your life? Do you, and can you create space in your days for yourself? I'm trying, albeit more or less successfully 😅
