In my performances I am open about my own downfalls towards my crowd, inviting the public to connect with themselves and others and telling them that no matter what you’re going through, we are in it together and that it is ok. The moment I started to embrace instead of fight my darkness and depths, I became more myself. Acknowledging truth is powerful, yet not for the faint hearted. If you start acknowledging everything about you, you’ll attract people around you who will too. I can see it happening around me. It’s wonderful. Surround yourself by kindred spirits (thanks @annewithane ) people who make you feel better about yourself. People who understand that their opinion for the sake of giving it maybe isn’t that necessary. There are enough people in the world who will talk to you like shit, we don’t need people close to us to do this.
So my Saturday evening message is: you don’t have to be or do anything to be accepted. Accept yourself by Showing yourself, the true you, not some conditioned behavioural trick you have learned to protect yourself. Drop your guard, stop fighting. It will push people away. Negativity will push people away. Just be you, all of it. Your ugliest trait and your most beautiful smile. All is well.
Does this resonate with anyone?
