It’s unusual to see Eddystone Lighthouse 💡up so close as we’re more used to trying to spot it through the mist / rain from the land, but when I saw this shot I knew it had to be my photo for today.
The lighthouse was built in 1882 by Trinity House and marks the dangerous rocks 13 miles southwest of Plymouth.
There’s a popular sea shanty which starts.....
My father was the keeper of the Eddystone Light,
And he slept with a mermaid 🧜♀️ one fine night,
From this union, there came three,
A porpoise 🐬 a porgy and the other was me!
A “porgy” is similar to the fish bream.
