I promised myself I would never be one of those therapists that wears a bunch of capes and scarves. All homely and “therapist-y.” Guess what? That’s most of my closet now. 😂I’m also really happy leggings are in style so I can feel like I’m in pajamas all the time.
I think it’s because we therapists need extra comfort and TLC. We often enter this profession as a result of our own healing journeys. We also hold space for some serious s&!$ to go down in our offices.
Especially early on, there can be long hours and taking everyone who needs us because our hearts are bleeding to save the world.
The longer we are in this, the more we are drawn to that self-care we really need. We also don’t always recognize how much intensity may be weighing us down.
When I worked in corporate America, I would always come home crying from stress. When I worked with trauma patients with deep-seated issues, I didn’t bring it home with me!
Or at least I thought I didn’t...on a conscious level. I took many precautions to keep my boundaries, engage in self-care, etc. Not that I was perfect at it but I was conscious about implementing these things.
Regardless, the energy of the work, in addition to my own history, caught up with me. It catches up with a lot of people in this profession. So many of the doctors and healers I’ve seen have said this is a common theme with therapists.
What has helped me more than anything, even years of therapy, is energy work, specifically the Akashic Records.
Where I used to be worried about feedback that would destabilize a patient, or which direction to go with those really challenging cases, I am now fully relaxed and actually energized and inspired in these scenarios.
Accessing soul-level guidance from clients’ spiritual teams only gives answers people can handle and integrate at the time.
They provide feedback that consistently leads them on their natural soul paths and comes from a space of unconditional love.
It clears and heals past traumas in this life, past lives and the ancestral line.
