Just over a year ago I was going through a real rough patch with work. I reconnected with an old mate and ended up doing some odd jobs with them, plastering. I absolutely loved it. For years I'd "played my role" in a system that is ridiculously corrupt, given its aims. I was depressed, fed up of working with people who didn't care about anyone but themselves and totally pissed off with the system itself. I'd stopped being active, stopped being outside, stopped doing things I loved. Then in July I read "If Women Rose Rooted", by @sharonblackiemythmakings and it totally changed my life. It reminded me of who I had been and who I wanted to be, that nothing was off limits to me 'just because I was a woman' and that I could take my life back into my hands. So I went to college and started my journey as a plasterer in September. I'm working with a heritage firm, learning about things I'm passionate about. My amazing husband, family snd friends have been totally supportive, as have college. Nights like this remind me of change, of power, of reclaiming what is your own. Be brave. Choose a future you love.
