NAVIGATING RESTAURANTS ON A DIET? by @grantgirsky

There are many people that straight up avoid eating out while dieting. I get it, you're working your tail off and don't want to ruin the progress you've made thus far.

News Flash! You absolutely can go out to eat with friends, family, coworkers and still stay on track, you just have to keep a few things in mind…
⠀
Here are a some of my favorite tips that will allow you to still enjoy eating out without totally blowing your diet:
⠀
1️⃣ Read The Menu: Glancing at the menu before you arrive can give you an idea of what options you have, and can prevent you from panic-ordering something you may regret.
⠀
2️⃣ Skip The Apps: Appetizers like bread and chip baskets can easily add 500+ calories onto a meal that you weren't accounting for. Passing on these may not be a bad idea.
⠀
3️⃣ Dressing/Sauce On The Side: This one is a no-brainer for me. Allowing yourself to portion out the dressing/sauce can easily save you a couple hundred calories.
⠀
4️⃣ Choose Healthier Sides: Opting for veggies over fried or high-fat sides is an easy way to conserve calories while also getting some good-ole micronutrients in.

5️⃣ Low-Cal Beverages: Water or zero-calorie drinks can save you a mere 300+ calories compared to other super high-calorie drinks.

6️⃣ Half Boxed Up To-Go: Portion sizes are continuing to get bigger and bigger, and we keep eating them. Asking for half of your order to be placed in a to-go box ahead of time can force you to decide if you really want to continue eating. Often times, we are guilty of just eating whatever's on our plate, regardless of our hunger cues.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with going out and enjoying yourself. If you want to order the biggest, juiciest burger and fries, go for it!! Just get back on track the next day👌

I can without a doubt say that 2018 was the most difficult year of my life. A year which brought me so much joy but also broke me into pieces with grief.⠀

November 1, 2018➡️December 14, 2019🎉 hard work pays off but it takes time and patience💕 I flip between counting macros and eating intuitively. I workout 4-6 times a week with a mixture of @laurengleisberg workouts and @orangetheory I get 8 hours of sleep and I drink a lot of water. After 13 months of being consistent I have hit my goal. I know this feeling all too well, in the beginner it is always frightening so here are some ways you can make it easier to get in there more often!

Avoid Peak Hours: Peak Hours are when the gym is packed with people. Some big guys, some smaller. But when you're already intimidated, peak hours are even worst. Go when the gym is relatively empty so you can do your thing.
ㅤ 
Follow A Program: Its intimidating to walk into a gym where there are a lot of people who know what they are doing.. and well you? You don't. So make sure you have a workout program to give you direction so you dont stress over everything.
ㅤ 
Get A Partner: A partner will not only help to spot you and push you, it will help you overcome your fear of going to the gym all by yourself.
ㅤ 
Use Headphones: Block out the noise so you can focus on you.
ㅤ 
Wear A Hoodie: It might be psychological but when you're skinny you're scared other people will see you and judge you. Although they wont you still constantly stress over how you look. Put on a hoodie so you can focus on your workout.

Just Do It!: Get comfortable being uncomfortable. The fact you're scared means you need to do this. It will change your life! Everyone started a little scared. It's normal.🔥

Confessions Saturday. Amazing what cocktails, a plate of chicken nachos, & not beating the shit out of your body will do for a gal. ⁣

This marks the end of my cut. I started at 119, lowest weight 110, current 111. Was my most successful yet. Minimal muscle & strength loss, didn’t lose my period, didn’t lose my shit. Photo shoot next Saturday. Posted some sneak peak teasers last night on my stories. Yes, we doing boudoir🔥 ⁣

And I’ve decided to not continue with the DecemBURN challenge. I gave it two solid weeks & found myself hating life, hating the gym, inflamed, pissed off, & exhausted. A reminder to all of you who are at this point of burnout. It’s not worth it, LISTEN 👂⁣

Sorry for the absence! The family has been taken down by the stomach virus! 🦠 Workouts and really eating have been nonexistent but I did feel able to drink coffee today so we all know that’s a win for me! In previous posts, I've covered the pros and cons of commercials gyms and the benefits of private studios... So what are some of the problems associated with private gyms?⁠

Today I'm giving your 4 problems that should be considered when looking for a private studio to train at.⁠
⁠
1) They are typically more expensive. Because they don't have the same expendable income as commercial gyms, private studios tyipcally have higher coaching rates and membership dues.⁠
⁠
2) They have less flexible hours. A lot of commercial gyms are 24 hours these days. Unfortunately, small gyms can't afford to have employees chillin around the clock so you're most likely going to have to work around their schedules.⁠
⁠
3) Due to having a smaller space to work with, most private gyms won't have all the bells and whistles. You aren't going to find a plethora of machines and equipment. They simply don't have the space or capitol. (Don't worry though, a good trainer can work around this)⁠
⁠
4) Less space means less amenities. Don't expect to find many private studios with showers, locker rooms, massage tables, and suanas. If you need to shower and to blow dry your hair after you hit the weights, then you may consider a commercial gym. ⁠

✅ Workouts Have Structure & Progression: Your workouts should relate in some way & allow you to improve a specific measure over time. You’re body needs a reason to change. If you are doing squats, over time you need to be getting stronger & more efficient at squatting. That will help you to build more muscle, get stronger, and additionally burn more calories.⁠
⠀⁠
✅ Manage Fatigue: Your program should be planned in a way that allows you to progress without injuring yourself, or burning out physically or mentally. Taking rest days, and even a lower-intensity week can help you to better recover, and therefore train harder, stay healthy, and get stronger.⁠
⠀⁠
❌ Muscle Confusion & Random Program Hopping: All too often I see people justify their lack of structure by claiming ‘muscle confusion’, which is the idea that you need to constantly change your workouts to 'trick your body”.⁠
⠀⁠
While I'm all for variation, you still need a basic foundation that you can progress over time. If you find yourself jumping from a powerlifting routine one week to a kettlebell circuit the next and then to a bodyweight program the week after that, you won't give your body enough time to reap the benefits of any of those styles of training.⁠
