Free weights are the undeniable king for muscle building due their versatility and functional movements, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use machines🤯

Free weights are very effective because they stimulate your muscles throughout the movement and promote stabilization throughout your whole body because your body is working to keep you balanced. So basically, you’re using more muscles at a time. This is also a great way for you to build your form and really work on targeting the muscles you want to target👊🏽

Machines are also great to use because they help you learn the movements that you would do when using free weights and help you focus on specific muscle groups instead of multiple at a time. Machines are great for getting in that extra volume when your stabilizer muscles are fatigued and there is a greater chance of injury😬

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. I might as well celebrate the season as a way to make lemonade out of lemons. I'm not running and I'm barely walking. My steps have been almost a third of my established minimum the past two days. My foot does feel better but I'm no where near ready to claim that the solution has been found. Less pain but not pain free and I've been here enough times in the past 8 months to know better than to start celebrating. I'll grant myself a little cautious optimism and see what PT brings tomorrow. This is joint hygiene, just like you stay on top of oral hygiene- your joints need the same love. Every day.

The term ‘if you don’t use it, you lose it’ couldn’t be more true here.

Joints get stiff over time because of the lack of movement. If we use our joints every day to their full capacity, the functionality of the joint will improve giving you the freedom to do the activities you enjoy doing.

Sunday hip thrusts and no heavy deadlifts as I ran on Saturday and Monday 🏃‍♀️💨 and I wanted to not overcharged my spine, so, hip thrusts are a great option! 💪 
I can lift with moderate weight, work on my gluteus, and be in good conditions for my next day track session 👏 as it am exercises that doesn’t put a lot of pressure in the spine! 😁

And while running she thought about her man who is always there for her and makes her feel loved and respected and sort of squiggly in the stomach (in a good way). And she realized that there are so many times that her thoughts turn to him and wondered if that was what “in love” was: being amongst it and covered in it, saturated and immersed and there is no longer a start or end or middle.
It’s scary and freeing at the same time. It’s like skin. There. Necessary.
Cared for but not a burden. Part of the whole.
She had all these thoughts and they came and went and at the end of the run she knew tomorrow would always be better because he’d be in it.
