Good news Delhi vegans! French bakery and patisserie chain L’Opera has just gotten vegan-friendly – you can now sip your cup of coffee with a splash of soy or almond mylk at any of the outlets in the region.
The bakery made the announcement on Instagram, with the tag, “Whether you’re a vegan, sensitive to milk or just don’t like the taste, almond and soya milk are a fabulous alternative.” While almost all the pastries and baked goods at L'Opera are off-limits for vegans (there's so much butter involved), you can now at least enjoy a cup of coffee.
Coffee chains across India are slowly ramping up their vegan offerings, with Starbucks and Café Coffee Day putting plant-based mylks on their menus. CCD has the option of soy mylk, along with a vegan shake made with dairy-free whipped cream. Starbucks has the option of both soy and almond mylk, at an extra charge of around 25 rupees.
But that's the downside of vegan mylks at restaurants and coffee shops - the extra charge. Do you feel it's unfair to charge extra for dairy-free mylk?
