The first swarm of the season packed up and ready to go to a local beekeeper who lost his bees to wasps at the end of last season.
The bees have been checked to make sure they have a laying queen and retained for a brood cycle to assess their health. Fortunately these bees show no sign of disease and the queen is laying well so they can be passed on.
Swarms go to local beginners or beekeepers who have lost their bees.
Hopefully this reduces the need to import bees and the risk of disease being brought in.
I love these waxed cardboard
Nuc boxes. They are light, bee tight and so easy to seal up for transport.
