Retracing my dad's footsteps from when he was living and studying in Auckland has been an unexpected and touching experience, especially with him being so far away in the UK now. His old flat is 5 mins walk from where I'm staying, and my favourite: standing at the bottom of the road leading to the summit of my local volcano, Ōwairaka Domain / Mount Albert, mentally preparing to jog up it, I suddenly thought to call dad ( ie. procrastinate 🙄). I told him where I was and he said he used to run up there all the time for rugby practise! 🏈 For that moment he didn't seem so very far away, and with embued spirit and will-power I set off up the hill! 🏃🏼♀️💪🏻🌋💗
