At long last a deal has been reached, agreed and passed that shall henceforth ensure that the United Kingdom will leave the European Union on the 31st of this month. A few hours ago Her Majesty The Queen discharged her constitutional duty in granting Royal Assent to the European Union (Withdrawal Agreement) Bill signing it into law and creating it an Act of Parliament.
“Aut inveniam viam aut faciam” is a Latin phrase meaning “I shall either find a way or make one." Today we have indeed witnessed that where there is a will, there is a way. There is no greater act of loyalty to the ideals which we have inherited than that demonstrated by those Members of Parliament who have discharged their duty to the full; to deliver on the wishes of the British people to whom they are answerable.
After years of tarrying the eventual deed of the House of Commons in the course of this last month has been the most significant of this present Parliament assembled, only upon the single thought of what would, in the end, be best for all. And now, we have enshrined in law our departure from the European Union which may take us forward into the next chapter in the story of our great nation. This is a chance at our rebirth, to get back to the best of who we are. To lead by example, with the dignity, courage and respect which built this country and which will build it once again. - 34 minutes ago
