Photograph by @johnstanmeyer ~ I’ve been documenting the suffering of the South Sudanese people for more than quarter century. A few years ago I was back in South Sudan, this time in the northern town of Yida…fighting across the border in Sudan caused over 60,000 Sudanese to flee or be killed. That day I spent time with women, witnessing the struggles to survive in a refugee camp run by MSF, the arduous task of walking for nearly a kilometer to collect water…when you turn on a faucet in your home to brush your teeth or two wash a plate, be in awe of how incredible access to water is.
It has been a humbling week sharing stories you here on the amazing @photograph.for.good Instagram account. Tragic realities of how borders divide, indifference, poverty cripples hope and corruption in governance, including greed, causes more than 1 billion people on our planet to be caught in a near perpetual struggle just to survive.
