Don’t miss the Messiah.
_______________________________________________________
There are several people mentioned in the Bible who completely missed out on the miracle of Jesus’ birth.
_______________________________________________________
There’s the Innkeeper for one. Jesus literally could have been born in his house and he sent Mary and Joseph out to the barn instead.  Then there’s King Herod who, upon hearing a religious king was born, felt jealous instead of joyous and wiped out every boy baby in order to save his throne which was never even threatened. This last one is the real shocker.  The high priests and religious experts even missed God coming to earth.  Despite knowing all the scriptures, prophesies, and exactly where the Christ was to be born, they never even went to see if he had come.
_______________________________________________________
Who didn’t miss Jesus? The culturally insignificant shepherds, some wise men from the East, an old man, Simeon, and an old widow named Anna.
_______________________________________________________
The most unexpected, distant, outcasted, forgotten people found Christmas why? Because, they were looking for it.
_______________________________________________________
Be it the hustle and bustle of every day life, our human tendency to prefer living in ignorance to living out the Truth, or a disbelief that God could have actually interceded in our world, almost everyone missed Jesus’ birth.
_______________________________________________________
You know, we miss the true meaning of Christmas for the same reasons.  Humanity hasn’t changed so much and God hasn’t changed at all.  So, if you really want to see Jesus you must do what those who found Him did- look for Him.  Jesus came then, He’s still here now, and His promise is to never leave.
_______________________________________________________
How can you look for Jesus this Christmas and every day?

But love your enemies and be kind and do good [doing favors so that someone derives benefit from them] and lend, expecting and hoping for nothing in return but considering nothing as lost and despairing of no one; and then your recompense (your reward) will be great (rich, strong, intense, and abundant), and you will be sons of the Most High, for He is kind and charitable and good to the ungrateful and the selfish and wicked.
Luke 6:35 AMPC
I will be honest, whenever this scripture is placed in my spirit, or it comes up during a devotional study (or, the verse of the day), I'm like....."I don't know about that. Does he/she deserve it?" But, I was once an enemy of Jesus. I wanted to live my way. Jesus was good to Judas!!! Yet, He was still good to him, loved on him, knowing that Judas was going to betray Him.
We make the excuse that Jesus was fully God, but He was also fully man (remember the part of His journey where He was beaten....to the point of being humanly unrecognizable, and was nailed to the cross for our sins?), and even then, He asked our Heavenly Father to forgive them (that includes us) while breathing His last breath.
Loving our enemies is for them. They need to know that they are loved by God, just like we are loved by God. If we are children of God and coheirs of Christ, aren't we to emulate loving our enemies? We were once enemies of God, and He still loved on us.
Remember, we are not fighting flesh and blood (study Ephesians 6:10-18). #VerseoftheDay📖 #LoveYourEnemies #TheBookofLuke #BibleApp #YouVersion #BiblePost #BibleQuote #BibleScripture #BibleVerse #BeEncouraged #GodOverEverything #GodsWordisTruth #Ministry #WomensMinistry #Community #GodlyWomen #WomenofGod #WomenofFaith #FollowMeasIFollowChrist #DNCMinistries #dnc_ministries #DaughterinChrist #DiscipleinChrist #MadeinHisImage #FearfullyAndWonderfullyMade #HealingisaJourney

I can still feel the excitement, even over fifty years later. Sitting at the top of the stairs with my two younger brothers, waiting for the “OK” to race one another down to be the first to the tree...and the gifts. Christmas morning! I know now, all these years later, that the painstaking wait was for the last bolts on the bike to be tightened, or the final snaps to the orange Hot Wheels tracks, or just maybe for my parents to enjoy their last sip of coffee before the chaos ensued. Those last few minutes of peace and quiet plopped together in the stairwell felt both miserable and delightful; endless and fleeting. Three vessels of hope squished on the stairs, quietly listening to try and figure out what our mom and dad were doing that took so long. Daylight had arrived and there were, in the floor below us, dozens of gifts to tear into along with the annual Tootsie Roll bank. When the call came, we were ready to break the silence with the sounds of ripping paper and roaring squeals of joy! All those seemingly ceaseless ticks of the clock were worth it! The ribbon clad presents were always better than we had even hoped.
As we begin another week of Advent, we celebrate by the lighting of the peace candle. What a gift, peace. Promised by God and foretold by prophets, the people had lived in the dark waiting for the promised Savior. From the beginning, the plan for redemption was complete, but the people much like my siblings and I had to wait. They learned through the covenant with Abraham that One would come from that lineage. They saw through the failures of the judges and the imperfections of the kings that a better judge, a perfect King was what they needed. Prophets like Isaiah and Micah gave them a picture of what those promises would look like. But who could have expected that the long wait would end when a baby was born in a stable? Who would have guessed that the first Noel would be given by a band of angels to the local outcasts who sat alone in the dark with their sheep? Who could have known that the Prince of Peace Isaiah prophesied would arrive in a feeding trough? But, God knew. His plan was not a fly by night sort. We see(cont’d in comments)

🎄Immanuel Reading Plan Day 6:
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,  they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:31)
.
Not a traditional Christmas reading but, oh, so needed today! .
In case you didn't notice, it's 3 days late because we have all been knocked down by the flu again. Literally in bed for 4 days. 😢 Bleh!

It’s a constant struggle to not give in to all the thoughts of fear, anxiety, resentments, self-doubt, pride, anger that arise in our minds every day. Not falling prey to these half truths and false beliefs leads us to true sanctity but dang is it not just the hardest thing to do???

We think we need to give every thought our attention and we have to engage with it but that only leads us down a rabbit hole. Ryan Holiday, the author of “Stillness is the Key” sums it up perfectly...

“To have an impulse and to resist it, to sit with it and examine it, to let it pass by like a bad smell- this is how we develop spiritual strength. This is how we become who we want to be in this world.

Only they know that real pleasure lies in having a soul that’s true and stable, happy and secure.”

Motivation Monday: “Constant eating of outside validation can choke your confidence and regurgitate fear.” -Leslie Rob 💕
We have to be careful not to become lovers of outside validation. It can hinder us spiritually when we want man to approve, what God has appointed.

Eternal Peace:

Recently I turned 49. I really enjoyed my birthday this year. I was finally at peace.
However, for almost five years my birthday was a horrible emotional trigger. No matter how hard I tried I could not enjoy it.
Old memories that were extremely painful haunted me and robbed my of any joy on my special day. I had to struggle to smile through each “Happy Birthday” and pretend to be enjoying myself... the whole time secretly begging God to let the time of the day pass so I could reach tomorrow.
Even weeks before my birthday I would start having panic attacks just in the anticipation of being brought back into the memories of that time in my life.
No matter how hard I tried to climb the ladder to reach peace I fell back down in despair.
Until I realized I did not have to try to climb it.
Because the ladder was Peace.
In Genesis 28:10-22 we find Jacob searching for God. However, God came pursuing him.
God came to him in a dream.
He dreamed of a ladder that stretched from heaven and earth and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.
God appeared and gave him the promise of Immanuel. God with us.
God would be with him no matter what ... just like God is with you and I always.
Then in John 1:43-51 we get even a fuller understanding of Jacobs dream. Jesus says the angels were ascending and descending not on a ladder, but on the Son of Man.
Jesus IS the ladder.
He is the only thing that is the gap between heaven and earth.
He is PEACE.

He is a God that comes down to His people.
I did not have to fight to climb to find Him.

He has been there the whole time.
In every tragic event of my life. He was there.
The Christ was born and came down for all of us.
Why ?
To bring us eternal PEACE.
I didn’t need to beg... or climb or search.
I had Him all along and so do you.
I pray you open your eyes this Christmas season to the peace that surrounds you.
For He is always there.
Amen
Love
Jennifer

The Christ was born and came down for all of us. Why ? To bring us eternal PEACE. I didn’t need to beg... or climb or search. I had Him all along and so do you. I pray you open your eyes this Christmas season to the peace that surrounds you. For He is always there. A while ago, the Holy Spirit placed a sense of urgency in my spirit to address this gender based violence issue within our country.
I spent time praying about the issue to seek guidance from the Lord on what He needs me to do. It was then laid on my heart that a panel discussion with female judges, policewomen, pastors, psychologists, doctors and survivours needs to take place.
My mind instantly thought, "Lord, how can I pull such an event off? All I have is my testimony." I wrote down some ideas and said, "Lord I'm available for You to use me, please just guide me." A while after that, I didn't receive much direction or strategy regarding that matter but I kept believing that God will give me strategy at the right time. Much later, I recieved a call and I was invited to be a speaker at a gender based violence awareness event.
The event will be attended by members of the judiciary, prosecutors, saps, government officials, psychologists, doctors, scholars and organisations that work with victims of gender based violence. And this event will be hosted as a panel discussion.

Right then I was in complete awe of our Lord's Goodness. The event, I thought I'd have to plan, God already made provision for. All He needed was what was in my hands... My testimony and my faith in Him.

I realised that God's plans and thoughts for my life far exceeds my own. So many times we limit ourselves based on our own thoughts and plans for ourselves and we fail to realise that we serve a Mighty God that is not limited to our thinking.

This past Friday, His plan for me was not to be an organiser of an event but rather to be a voice for millions of women across our beloved country. He has tasked me to share my story that thousands of victims and survivours face and relate to on a daily basis. By sharing, those present have learnt to do better and be better as they serve the women of our country.
Always remember that the purpose God has for your life is never for your benefit, but for the benefit of others. God's purpose for your life is always greater than you and always exceeds what you had in mind for yourself. Continue to trust in Him and seek His wisdom and guidance🖤🖤🖤

Honored the light of the world along side these beautiful women who graciously accepted me into their team this evening. I felt God’s love and grace surrounded by the women of the @sipatthetable community. I feel so blessed to be part of something so special. ✨
