Following the career and impact of Muhammed Ali, there came another icon in boxing; Sugar Ray Leonard. Throughout his life, Sugar Ray spent time competing at the highest levels in boxing showcasing his skills by winning titles in 5 weight classes as well as beating the best of his generation. He has also spent time as a motivational speaker, actor, participating in a lot of charity work and being Khloe Kardashian’s Godfather. After a successful boxing career and being heralded as one of the best to ever do it, Ray Shifted his focus to humanitarian work. Leonard is a strong advocate in the fight against diabetes, and in 2009 he and his wife started the Sugar Ray Leonard Foundation that supports Juvenile Diabetes Research. This then branched out to aid communities, support accessible Housing, healthcare, education and job training. Leonards most passionate cause is one that he himself was a victim of. The Big Fight: My Life in and out of the Ring is his autobiography that Ray published in 2011. It was in this autobiography that after 30 years, Sugar revealed that he was the victim of child sexual abuse. Since coming out with this, Sugar has become a poster child for this cause.
